Lord Of The Rings actor Sir Ian McKellen has been rushed to hospital after taking a dramatic fall off stage during a West End performance. The 85-year-old actor, currently starring as John Falstaff in Player Kings at the Noel Coward Theatre, reportedly lost his balance in an intense fight scene.
Player Kings, which is a take on Henry IV, Parts One and Two, kicked off its 12-week stint in the West End this April.Concerned theatre-goers immediately took to X, previously known as Twitter, to express their worries for the esteemed actor, recounting the "really bad fall". One person posted: "Audience shocked by Sir Ian McKellen's fall off stage tonight at Noel Coward Theatre. Staff working hard to help him. Thoughts with him, cast and crew," reports the Mirror.
Sir Ian, best known for his role as Gandalf in The Lord Of The Rings, has recently ended his relationship with boyfriend Oscar Conlon-Morrey. The pair fell head over heels for each other while working together on a pantomime back in December 2022, where Sir Ian played Mother Goose and Oscar, who is 54 years his junior, played his son Jack.
