So your question is really should consumers have to pay more recycling costs.

Yes. Any manufacturer that makes a product that doesn’t “break down “ naturally should totally be held responsible for any waste product created

Yes!

Simple answer is yes because if that was the case they would be more inclined to make things that were kinder to the environment.

It would help if recycling was the same across all councils.. Different councils recycle items differently. For example High Peak accept milk cartons in the paper bin but Warrington doesn't. Time councils took recycling seriously.

HATE TO AGREE WITH THIS mob But yes all companies who produce Any plastic packaging should pay It is costing country millions to recycle or DUMP COMPANIES SHOULD PAY

or they could use enviromentaly freindly materials to start with and stop pushing unneccessary costs onto the consumer whilst depleting resources needlessly and polluting the planet for no better reason than short term profit and share prices.

If they make it then they should pay part towards its recycling costs, they only make it the way they do because its cheap to manufacture maximises profitds and its someone else's problem to get rid of itv

If you switch detergent packages to glass and charge a return fee then there would truly be a step forward vs the war against the STRAW. Glass can be recycled while plastic really can't. Another option would be tin. Another product that can be easier to recycle.

But the problemin part is that a large portion of goods cannot currently be recycled. HMG should provide assistance to companies like Powerhouse Energy who try to find solutions to how to turn waste into fuel or clean energy.

Yeah why not, the costs, as with raises in minimum wage and work place pension costs, can be easily passed on to the consumer.

YES THEY FUCKING SHOULD

How about recyclable manufactures pay less tax? How about you promote good, environmentalky friendly, healthy products with reductions in taxes rather than simply increasing taxes making everything for normal people more expensive.

Yes !

The general principle is that the polluter pays. Define the polluter and we have the answer but, whatever, consumers/taxpayers pay for everything.

It really doesn’t matter who is charged. The end user will be paying for it regardless.

Should the customer have to pay more recycling costs? FixedItForYou

Which will only get passed on to the consumers

Yes

YES.

Obvs.

FUCK YES

Yes.

Yes.

Yes.

They should follow Starbucks on replacing straws with sip led cups to reduce wasting of plastic that non-recyclables

Wake up.....it will only be passed on to the end user.......as I keep saying ‘the man in the street’ pays for everything !

Come on! Who is in charge of the use The user have to have appropriate discard points, I’d like to propose a new questioning, let’s share the savings promoted by the utilization of the right plastic and all other packaging components, the USD billions that all government earn

Yes. If I have to pay a recycling fee when I buy a TV ( here in Canada at least). And I get that costs are passed on, but then at least I’ll be responsible for the actual cost of the things I’ll buy, and there’s an incentive for innovation in packaging.

Yes!

Yes.

THEY THEN PUT THE COST ON THE PRODUCT..IT AINT ROCKET SCIENCE IS IT?

YES! Manufacturers are killing the planet for profit. Alternatives are available but are not being adopted because of the added cost, so I think it's fair to charge them for taking care of the unrequired waste they produce but even better forced them to use eco-friendly solutions

They would just add it on to the price you pay. Manufacturers don't pay anything it's ultimately the customer.

Logically yes. As the end user we're penalised by choices of manufacturers/suppliers & left with the problem of disposing/recycling the waste they supply us with. Financial cost implications to change maybe, but what price the environment we want our children's children to enjoy?

The cost will only be passed on to the consumer.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. It's their rubbish the rest of us can't recycle and have to dump into the environment. How many more drinks in plastic bottles do we need for heavens sake. Industry is driving demand and creating this problem.

why don't you say what you mean - should the public pay more for recycling - we will pay in the end for the products

At last. Although I'd go a step further, if a product can't be recycled in the UK it can't be sold in the UK.

These planned parenthood ads are getting ridiculous.

Yes

Manufacturers to pay recycling costs in bid to stop wasteDefra has outlined new plans in light of new figures on household recycling in England, which show rates have flat-lined. For years and years we have sent our rubbish to other countries to deal with it. Guess what, now these countries no longer want our rubbish and we don’t have a plan B Once upon a time, when it would have prevented so much contamination etc. The Tories use to say, 'we cannot increase cost on business, it will cost jobs' & 'Any increase will be passed on to the consumer' as an excuse for doing F*ck All. Never trust a Tory we are told there is only one Dupont family on the whole Earth behind the manufacturing of Plastic .. true, tho odd... what ya think of that? this whole time you didnt know who to talk to about make a planet create again. environmental

Paid selective recycling will be revolutionaryMaking manufacturers pay for the disposal of packaging based on how recyclable they are is revolutionary, writes Thomas Moore. Used in Germany for many years with great success, why has it taken us so long to catch on? Who are you trying to kid? All costs will be passed on to consumers. revolutionary lol The additional costs will just be passed on to the consumers like all restrictive business regulations that increase costs. It's a stupid idea, hardly revolutionary.

Ipswich Town manager Paul Lambert pays travel costs of loyal fans out of own pocketThe Ipswich Town boss covered the cost of each fan's £37 ticket as a way of 'saying thanks' for the support he has received. I suppose £10 each for both who went won’t hurt his pocket to much? Hardly his own pocket. It’s come out of the millions he’s received in having contracts paid up for being completely crap at his job. League 1 for the town and the boot for Jock.
