A serial shoplifter helped himself to tubs of coffee, Pringles, milkshakes and baby milk to fund a drug addiction during a crime spree. Damian Harris, 30, of Shrewsbury Road, Sneinton, pleaded guilty to theft on three occasions and to damaging the door on one occasion at a Premier store in Nottingham.
Nottingham Magistrates' Court heard on Monday it was the usual shoplifting to fund a drug addiction which Harris admitted in police interview. He is now settled on a Methadone prescription . Harris has now breached a suspended prison sentence, imposed on August 8, for two separate shop thefts and two of possessing controlled drugs.
He received 20 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, and within 16 days he was offending again, said District Judge Leo Pyle. "You committed the current spree, clearly targeting one shop, and stole on three occasions and damaged a door on one occasion." He imposed the 20-week suspended sentence and added ten weeks in total consecutively. Harris will serve half of the 30-week term and the remainder on licence and supervision.
