When Bridgerton launched on Netflix on Christmas Day 2020, we were immediately entranced. And we knew we weren't the only ones: 63 million households tuned in in its first few weeks of availability. The enormous success of the charming period drama surely meant that we would be getting a second season. After all, there were cliffhangers aplenty and several novels left to adapt.
However, filming has now begun in earnest. Jonathan Bailey, who plays Anthony Bridgerton - was photographed filming scenes with actress Simone Ashley, who will play new arrival and his love interest Kate. Phoebe Dynevor was also recently spotted preparing to start shooting, posting social media images of her with her newly dyed red locks - hinting that her first scenes were looming. This followed something of a red herring in April: photos of some of the cast members on set were posted on social media, which caused a stir online, but it was all a misunderstanding: the images were mere throwbacks to the last series.
Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope, confirmed as much. But don't take these new, a dual images as a sign that we'll be seeing a return any time soon: they'll need several months to prepare the next season.
