Scottie Scheffler has released a statement on social media following his arrest.

Scottie Scheffler has broken his silence after being detained by police upon arriving at Valhalla for the US PGA Championship.

Scheffler has since released a statement on social media, calling the incident a 'big misunderstanding' as he referenced the tragic passing of a man who was struck by a shuttle bus.On a post on his Instagram story, he said: "This morning, I was proceeding as directed by police officers. It was a very chaotic situation, understandably so considering the tragic accident that had occurred earlier, and there was a big misunderstanding of what I thought I was being asked to do.

The incident occurred as the second round of the PGA Championship was delayed due to a fatal accident near the club.Nasir Jabbar is a journalist at SPORTbible.
