Scott Brown says he won’t use Ayr’s mounting injury list as an excuse as he challenged his squad to grab their chance.
He told the Ayrshire Post: “The injuries are not ideal but this is what gives other lads the opportunity to come in and impress. It doesn’t matter who’s on the park – we need to be showing far more composure as a team. Yet again on Saturday, we made individual errors and I can’t remember us putting four or five passes together. That needs to be better – the nervousness about our play cannot continue.
He said: “We scored four goals when beating Partick at home, so we’ve proved we can do it here. Airdrie will come to us on a high and, much like Queen’s, they are a good footballing side. We cannot afford to start slowly again – we need to put our stamp on the game and take it to them.”
