Bomb disposal experts were called out to Dalbeattie after a man found an unexploded bomb in his garden.
A number of homes were evacuated while experts removed the device, suspected to be from World War Two. “All of my neighbours were out, which has never happened at the same time, so I lay there for 10 or 15 minutes and didn’t know what to do – I could see it was in really good condition and felt like it could explode.
When the police arrived, they put up a cordon and sent more photos to the bomb squad, who arrived from Faslane around 9pm.
