"Instead, can we encourage you to save money and the environment by not sending cards to all of the children in a class individually but instead, if you want to send a card please send one card to the whole class. One parent, who did not want to be named, told the Daily Mail:"I know quite a few parents who are upset about this."Why should children have the joy taken out of Christmas? Why can't all these cards be recycled anyway? And I buy a lot of Christmas cards for charity.
Another added:"Telling people to stop sending cards in a letter sent out to hundreds of kids stinks of rank hypocrisy. "I hope parents boycott these Grinch-like plans and keep this tradition alive by sending lots of cards to their little pals. "They are mostly recyclable anyway. I agree that environmental issues are important but I don't see recyclable Christmas cards as a massive contributor to these problems."
Belton Lane Primary is a mixed, community school for 275 pupils aged between four and 11. It was rated"good" in its latest Ofsted inspection.

SonnyBunch 'School bans children from sending Christmas cards to protect the environment'
Send a card to people you won't see.
The far left Marxists trying to ban Christmas
Merry Christmas mr mason you truly are a Scrooge the items you have banned are made already anyway and your self important publicity seeking gesture will have no effect other than to turn parents against you and to upset children at this festive time beltonparkschool
Kids won't have any joys left. .. bah humbug
What the ...,
Brilliant idea I won’t be sending any this year it’s a waste of money and time.
My kids school have asked kids to send one to the whole class and not 29! Good idea in my opinion
creeping sharia
As long as the cards are produced here in the UK and not imported from China & India etc then it’s no problem to me. Why anybody wants to buy cards imported from thousands of miles away is a mystery to me. Please check the reverse and ONLY BUY BRITISH!!!
More like to protect political correctness.
Because the teachers are stupid
Does that include any card or are they bowing to a religion?
Give us the address so we can swamp the school with Christmas cards
More bollocks from sky. Nothing to do with.. maybe offending some folks, No.
Quote: “One parent, who did not want to be named, told the Daily Mail.......” ONO We could not find a parent who cared so we “journalists” made some stuff up to create a false outrage over something that is not news so we could meet our sales numbers.....
Agree with many of the comments. Cards could be made from recycled materials& incorporated within art lessons (alternatives provided for those who do not wish to participate). Children enjoy sending& receiving cards& the postbox element. Could send electronic Christmas Cards?
Guess schools are where Extinction Rebellion will be heading next, that is if they manage to unglue themselves from the Lib Dems' bus.
I would tell him to get stuffed. He can stop them exchanging cards in school, unfortunately, but what the do outside school is none of his interfering business.
Quite right: the only way to offset increased Chinese coal production is to stop young British children from sending Christmas cards to each other. This will also bring us together as a community.
I’ve explained to colleagues overseas in UAE and KSA what Christmas was when we were leaving for the holidays. Some didn’t know what Christmas was, none of them decorated their houses. The malls in Dubai and Dhabi decorate for Christmas but that’s just for commercial purposes.
Screw that.
School admin did this while drinking from a single use plastic bottle.
Is anyone else tempted to send the teacher a card?
There is a wider issue here. Due to the academy system Head Teachers have powers over and above what is appropriate, and are subject to little scrutiny. OFSTED note scrutiny a lot. They are making political points that are far from appropriate. Time for a rethink on academies.
Well it’s the right time of year for snowflakes ❄️
How can teachers ban what children do, outside of school? 🤔
Can we ban to protect the environment too please? Just imagine their Carbon footprint with their reporters travelling around the world and commuting to work in their ICE vehicles. Their greenhouse gas contribution to the ClimateEmergency is unimaginable! SkyNews
😂🤣🤣🤣
ughh cards? cards?! in 2019? send a WhatsApp message
No nativity plays because it might offend other religions, banning the making of Christmas cards, may as well ban Christmas all together and be done with it.
Utter jokes
Omg its getting worse I give up!
Yep better encourage handmade and discuss alternatives rather than banning them entirely
Meanwhile it's acceptable all the waste for the general elections. Priorities I guess
Makes me so mad when the Lib Dems who preach about the environment send about every two or three days newspaper kind of literature through every letter box. Count the tree’s for that. Let the children enjoy Christmas.
And the head teacher probably drove to school this morning in his/her car
All bs! 😕
Another childhood memory crushed.
Bloody good excuse for not sending them! Have you seen the price of stamps?
Should have knew all along that it was Christmas cards destroying our planet 🤷🏻♂️
I am ALL for helping the environment but we need to address the huge corporations still continuing to produce and use single-use plastic as well as asking children not to make or send Christmas cards.
Are they going to ban parents from buying wrapping paper, books and newspapers too?
But they are still allowed to buy a single items via the internet which are delivered by a dirty diesel van driven by a zero contact driver paid 75p per delivery who works for companies that don’t pay the full VAT & Tax on UK sales that are crippling our high streets 🤔
Wow - no cards at Christmas - what next - no turkeys - no meat - no transport - shall we all just stay indoors - no heating of course - and curl up and die - would that be enough to preserve the climate - no people or animals ?
Then again, when I see things like this.. I'm not surprised nor shocked at the issues of our schools. We expect children to grow up but the adults in charge can be shameful.
Disgraceful
I call bullshite .. just a way of stopping Christmas so we dont offend the religion of peace
Well that school can go and F**k itself quite frankly 🤗
I don’t believe this !! For the love of god why xx
Within the school, Sly, within the school. I really wish I hadn't clicked on this now...
Yes, looks like the first steps are already being taken to abolish Christmas if you ask me. !
More like someone is still hurt they didn't get a Christmas card when they were a kid at school
Sick of this! For many people it’s an opportunity to hear from those they don’t get to see regularly Can breakdown barriers, eg neighbours exchanging cards Used as decorations around the home Can be recycled How dare a school decide to stop this practice!
Maybe encouragement to create cards out of recycled materials might have been a better idea.
How ridiculous, I’m sure they could get ones made from recycled paper or something
No doubt our loony liberal teachers will allow cards if they support LibDems so as to support the indoctrination of our children
The school must have a perfect environmental record ? Maybe School bans children from sending Christmas cards to protect other faiths and non faiths from being offended ?
Would be interesting to see how much waste is thrown out by that school, paper, pens, plastics etc. Got he’s priorities all wrong.
No carboard is not safe. The damned liberals
Fundamentally, glitter (in any usage) should be banned from all society. Paper cards, without glitter are perfectly acceptable.
