Saree-Speak event saw over 100 women coming together to celebrate traditional dress

New constituency boundaries and candidates in Preston, Chorley and South Ribble for the 2024 general electionCorporation Street bus gate to start but motorists will receive ‘warning letter’The Saree-Speak is part of a worldwide movement started by Vini Tondon in 2016 to encourage women to wear the traditional dress.The evening was ‘filled with laughter and fun,’ with over 125 women in attendance to celebrate the versatilely of the garment.

Every year sees a different time for the event. This year’s theme was retro, inspired by the saying ‘old is gold’.Barkha said: “By having these events these ladies bring the Saree to the forefront not just for themselves but also to spark curiosity about the attire in the younger generation.”
