Mummy Diaries star Sam Faiers says she is “enjoying the journey” of recovery from a condition that sees her compulsively pluck out all her eyelashes.
The former glamour model recently revealed the trigger for her Trichtillomania was when her step father went to prison during her childhood. She began to pluck out her eyelashes so she could blow on them and wish for his return. Sam’s therapy will be covered in this series of The Mummy Diaries because she now feels ready to tackle it head on: “I have never really spoken out about it as much. I have, but I have been a bit more closed about it. Whereas now I am really confident talking about it and I want to help other people.”
Sam told us last year that: “Since I had the kids I’ve never had a flare up. I was on medication for about a year [after diagnosis] and then I weened myself off of that and I just researched things that are a bit more natural, so vitamins and minerals and a change in diet.”
