The experienced midfielder believes the Buddies' strength in depth has helped them soar towards the top end of the table.

Ryan Flynn has seen plenty of St Mirren squads built up, dismantled and started again during his lengthy spell in Paisley.

So, when asked to rank his current group of high-flying Buddies, the former Sheffield United star’s answer couldn’t have been much more emphatic. “The best thing is that even when players are disappointed at not being in the starting XI, they don’t show that at all.“I think that’s why we’ve started the season so well and if we can maintain that across the whole season, it could be a special one.“Bad runs can come throughout a campaign so we’ve got to be ready for that.

The Buddies currently sit proudly in third after a superb start to the season, with manager Robinson and his assistant Diarmuid O’Carroll picking up plenty of plaudits for their fine work in Paisley.
