Intelligence reports coming out of Russia have suggested Vladimir Putin’s ill-trained forces do not want to come up against Ukrainian soldiers after they return to their country following intensive training in Britain DavidParsley50 reports:

Unlike Ukrainian troops, who receive full and intensive training in the UK and elsewhere in Europe before being sent to the front line, the 300,000 Russian soldiers mobilised by Putin are understood to have received little more than a week’s training before entering the heat of battle.

Russia is believed to have suffered between 175,000 and 200,000 casualties during the first year of the war, with one in three of those being killed. While Western officials believe the Russian spring offensive has begun, they also claim it is more of a “whimper” than a major push due to Russia’s ongoing issues with supplies and low troop morale.

“The language is really important,” said the Western official. “They may make a reasoned decision to withdraw rather than expending more forces.
