Ukrainian forces have shot down 26 out of 28 Iranian-made Russian attack drones overnight, according to officials in Kyiv.
The air force added that Russia's overnight attack also included several types of missiles but offered no further details. The number of people dead from last week's Moscow concert hall attack has risen to 143, according to Russian authorities.However, Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said earlier on Wednesday that 80 people were in hospitals and another 205 had sought medical treatment following the attack.
In a speech to Russian air force pilots last night, he said the country had"no aggressive intentions" towards countries such as Poland or the Baltics states. Russia may have used a new type of guided bomb in Kharkiv airstrikes that killed one person and injured 19 others, among them three children and a baby, local officials said;
"We need to show what we are truly worth, who we are, and that we are Ukraine, that Ukraine is a great, united, and strong country in many respects," he said. Vyacheslav Gladkov said tonight's attacks broke windows and damaged several buildings, including two schools. The southern Russian city has been increasingly targeted in recent weeks.
Denmark and the Netherlands are among those slated to donate the US-made, modern fighter jets to counter Russian air superiority.
