The strikes planned for the next two weeks will not take place but action will resume on 12 November.

"The fact remains that the current direction of Royal Mail doesn't benefit the company, the community or the country," Mr Ward added.

Royal Mail confirmed that the CWU had withdrawn planned strike action originally planned for 2, 3, 4, 8, 9 and 10 November. The company and the CWU are due to attend scheduled talks at the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service on Monday.

The traditional postal service is shrinking surely with so many companies switching their customers to electronic mail which is quicker and cheaper. Going on strike just might be putting nails in their own coffin.

Don't remember any staff members calling strike action off! This is the union due to Royal Mail and Tory leadership making it nearly impossible for workers to strike without going through loops. If they do this then they can enjoy us making good use of our sick leave in December

Peckham sorting seem like they’re always on strike anyway, RoyalMail is diabolical in my area! Have been waiting weeks for a parcel and have been told they’re prioritising tracked parcels before they sort out the back log!

the posties risked their lives to carry on bringing our mail through covid. anyone who says it's an easy job should bloody well apply and try it for themselves. it's time to stand up for the rights of working people and appreciate what they do by paying them a proper wage.

Staff have not 'called off' strike action. Royal mail won a legal argument. That forced the union to call off some dates. Not the same thing at all. Desperate action from the money men. Determined to see a 500 year old company. Turned into trash, where anything goes.

Have worked for the RM six or so times during the Christmas season, and my opinion is that they don't deserve to stay in business. The management and supervision is generally mediocre to poor and a lot of the regular staff prefer chatting and texting to working.

Been offered a 5 hr day if they sort really quick and jog the round👍

fuckyouiquit idk what to say about this..

Basically they’re going to delay it until Christmas time, p*ss of the general public and then bully the company into higher pay.

Great, we'll get post through November and then when Christmas hit these strikes will be back on when they've jumped through the right hoops to notify their employers properly of general action.

Saw some CWU people in my local town last week. All looked close to retirement; like they're attempting one last stab at anti authoritarian anarchy before retiring 🙄

But you know what, if these strikes are necessary to identify who should and shouldn't have their contact renewed, I am all for it then. Some of these motherless fsck should have never been employed for a company that in charge of running the country economy.

Well done folks! Thank you all!

Will anyone even notice?

The average pay in this story is absolutely nonsense. Posties on the street get no where near that. Maybe they've taken Simon Thomsons pay into that.

Time to get back round the table strike a deal give the workers rightly what they are owed.

kai_welch looks like you’ll be able to Christmas shop now 😝😝😝😝😝😝

The posties worked through covid record breaking profits 750 million plus no thanks or payment from royal mail they gave away 400 million of our profits to shareholders elon musk and amazon to this day dont give dividends they re invest th gov should investigate🦧

Still earn more than me and what for? Driving around in a van and sticking stuff through a postbox or delivering a parcel? Hardly a super skilled job. A decently paid one though for what they do.

Death of the Royal Mail… My family have just agreed to no longer send cards for any occasions going forward, as I am sure many more will if they have not already.

Nearly £26k for a postman. Work my nuts off for £6k less so My heart bleeds for them. 🙄 TBH, I might become a Postie if they’re earning that…
