Rory McIlroy's PGA board opponents named

The Northern Irishman has decided against taking a seat on the board, with American Webb Simpson keen to step down and hand his place to McIlroy, who last year was keen to rejoin to try and speed up progress on a deal between the PGA and LIV Golf, but "only if people want me involved.

"There was a subset of people on the board that were maybe uncomfortable with me coming back on for some reason. … I think Webb just stays on and sees out his term, and I think he's gotten to a place where he's comfortable with doing that and I just sort of keep doing what I'm doing."
