But Cheshire East Council blocked the plans after it said it had received “approximately 1,000 letters of objection”, with concerns about "no Covid-19 provisions”, “fear of increased crime”, and a “hazard to the local community”. The council obtained a court injunction to stop any building work after it was found out "the site was occupied by increasing numbers of people and caravans, with the site eventually comprising 13 touring caravans, accommodating between 40 and 50 people”, according to the planning officer’s report.
