Rather than act as a straight sequel to the surprisingly successful Iron Man, Marvel Studios decided to overstuff the film with universe-building references and two-dimensional villains . The result is a film without any direction that serves as a Trojan horse set-up for the Avengers.
As The Irishman is blocked from many cinemas, due to its Netflix screening, it could be said to be a lot less cinematic than the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
