Tomorrow's rail strikes are 'absolutely' a class struggle and a 'pushback against a broken economy', RMT Assistant General Secretary Eddie Dempsey tells LBC. TomSwarbrick1

"It absolutely is." Mr Dempsey declared, adding "there has been a huge transfer of wealth from one class – the working class."Tom picked apart the argument, citing the IFS' report that middle earners will be "slightly worse off, if at all" in the cost of living crisis. "Is that part of a class war?"

"Do you think a person earning the median wage in this country can afford to buy a house?" Mr Dempsey countered. Tom clapped back, asking if the RMT are "going out on strike because the gap between pay and house prices has been decoupled". Mr Dempsey reiterated the point that rail workers' " pay has been frozen for three years now", and "if we don't keep people up with the rising. cost of living people will become poorer."

"If you listen to the rhetoric coming from Grant Shapps and the government...you will see the government is determined to pour petrol on the fire and have this dispute so they can have a straw man in the unions to attack."

'We're not asking for the world': RMT calls for 7% pay rise as train strike talks continueThe RMT has defended its upcoming rail strikes and says it's 'not asking for the world' as it called for a seven per cent pay rise in line with the rising costs of living. You already have better pay and terms so NO. Even saying the government want you to strike, call their bluff and cancel it if that's true? No did not think so. Join the queue AFTER Nurses,Doctors, Fire service, police and me ! Striking for pay rises. This is how the winter of discontent happened in 1979 when copycat strikers demanded huge payrises after other industrys got them. Boll*cks, they don't car a jot about the heartache that this strike will cause, they are just looking after No.1 as usual and f*ck to the rest of the world. Just look at the chaos they created in the 70's with their ridiculous pay demands and strikes. The RMT is evil

Biggest rail strike in three decades to go ahead as last-ditch talks failThe biggest rail strike in three decades is expected go ahead after last-ditch talks failed, the RMT union said. And what does it have to do with the government 🤔 they wanted the government to go to the table so they could blame them for the strike 🙄 Still no reporting on the actual Shadow Foreign Secretary being under sleaze investigation by the Parliament watchdog. Whi is this SkyNews? We know why! Gov shouldn't have resorted to brinkmanship + turning the public against them. If MPs went on strike would we notice? Lowest paid keep this country going, if they are so essential pay them fairly if not then do without the trains. 99% of us should stand in solidarity together.
