Rishi Sunak hopes Gary Linker and BBC can 'resolve row in timely manner'

Gary Lineker received the backing from the worlds of sport, politics and entertainment after ‘stepping back’ from presenting Match Of The Day. He also stood by the immigration policy, which is designed to stop migrants illegally crossing the English Channel by boat, saying it is “fair and right”. “Gary Lineker was a great footballer and is a talented presenter. I hope that the current situation between Gary Lineker and the BBC can be resolved in a timely manner, but it is rightly a matter for them, not the government.
