Ms Murty was born in India and does not have to pay UK tax on income she earns outside Britain.

Liberal Democrat Treasury Spokesperson Christine Jardine said: "Sunak now needs to come clean about which country his family pays tax in abroad and if it is a tax haven."

Wealthy Conservative politicians, such as former party chairman Lord Ashcroft and environment minister Lord Goldsmith, have faced criticism in the past for claiming non-dom status. She married Mr Sunak in 2009. Her father NR Narayana Murty founded the IT services company Infosys which has grown to be one of India's biggest firms and he is now a billionaire.

Ms Murty's spokeswoman said: "Akshata Murty is a citizen of India, the country of her birth and parents' home. India does not allow its citizens to hold the citizenship of another country simultaneously."

Ms Murty was born in India and CHOOSES not to pay UK tax on income she earns outside Britain. CORRECTED IT FOR YOU

What a weird way to present this. Correction: She has 'chosen' to not pay UK tax, the only reason why she does not have to pay UK tax is because she has chosen not to and has successfully applied for non-dom status. She could have changed her status at any time (and still can).
