The bill would oblige managers of sites hosting user-generated content, including social media sites, to take "proportionate measures" to stop children seeing harmful material.
Making managers liable for a failure to comply with broader safety duties in the bill was rejected after aahead of the bill's introduction, which concluded it could make the UK tech sector less attractive. In exchange, the government has now agreed to introduce an amendment of its own along similar lines when the bill gets to the House of Lords - giving ministers more time to work on the wording.
Sir Bill Cash, a leading Tory rebel, told the BBC the agreement with ministers was a "huge step forward", adding that senior managers in the sector "will not want to run the risk of going to jail".

The only kid's he cares about are his own, that's why so many families are living in cold homes and can't afford much towards food, just remember when you vote he dosent care about common people
Will it include banning hateSpeech for whatever that means to the narrative controlling freaks, like with Palestinian text books? 'saving the children' is a good argument though
Tory tax Evasion story?
BBC news bows to Tory pressure and fails to report on Zahawi tax evasion. Since when was a minister committing tax fraud not newsworthy? Another lost viewer.
Rishi Sunak to sack Nadhim Zahawi?
Oi, got any plans to report on Zahawi's efforts to threaten people and wriggle out of paying tax…and fail? Pretty quiet about the £3m he’s paying HMRC all of a sudden?

Safety laws are not to protect individuals. They are to protect the dealings of governments.

I find that I don't need porn anyways. We all have imaginations, so why not use them? However, the idea of needing to give up an ID just to see some images on a screen is ridiculous. I hope this trash goes nowhere.
Will never get enforced. “Dear Elon, We saw some some bad stuff on Twitter, plz plz come to UK so we can put you in prison for not moderating every one of your website’s millions of tweets. Yours imprisoningly, Rishi PS: Plz invest here.”
What about zahawi
All them hard drives are safe...
Let’s do the Tory infiltrated BBC’s job for them and use their site to report on news they’re not allowed to touch.
Like you have bowed to Tory pressure not to report anything about Zahawi's tax evasion? That is very much in the public interest!!! 😡
Why aren’t you covering Zahawis tax evasion?
Why are you covering up Zahawus tax evasion and lies ?
Wow the Tories with a rare win over the Liberals.
