Most of us don’t have a big pile of money we’ve squirrelled away for a shopping spree when lockdown’s over

AdvertisementRishi SunakAt a recent Conservative Party event, the Chancellor said that people ‘have been sitting at home building up some savings’ and ‘we would like to go and spend them when we get back’, according to The Telegraph.

When higher rent and bills were due in June, I had to dip into my funds for the first time. I felt sick transferring the money. It was like I’d failed to predict a storm. I’d love to spend a fat stack of cash or trolley dash around a shopping centre. But ingrained anxiety about money and disaster tells me otherwise.
