Culture and media editor, BBC NewsRichard Sharp is accused of helping facilitate a loan to the then prime minister, when Mr Sharp was applying to be BBC chairman.Mr Sharp denies being involved in any loan and told the BBC he believes he will be exonerated because he "was appointed on merit".He doesn't appear to be a man who thinks he has done anything wrong.
On Tuesday he gave some more information about what happened, welcomed the scrutiny and maintained he had taken steps to ensure "due process was followed by the book". Mr Blyth had offered to be the guarantor on a loan for Mr Johnson after reading press reports that he was under financial pressure. He said: "With all this fuss, with the benefit of hindsight, particularly at that time I might have said 'Do it yourself', but I was working in Downing Street at the time as the economic advisor to support industries".
Describing the meeting, he said: "Sam came to me and said, 'Do you want to come to Chequers? I'm going down to have dinner with Al' [an abbreviation of Mr Johnson's first name Alexander]. Mr Sharp said he made the cabinet secretary aware of his application to be chairman when he told him about Mr Blyth's financial offer in late 2020.
The crook is a banker and likes to control money and people. All the best people have left the BBC why ? Programmes are crap too.
Resign .
What a surprise. Yet another Tory who thinks he's beyond criticism. BBC...British Broadcasting Conservatives. Just a Tory mouthpiece.
How can he get away with donating £400k to the Tory party and then arranging a £800k loan for BoJo the clown and then be appointed as the head of the BBC? How is it not completely corrupt?
Double standards. One more year of this corrupted government.
It not a row, it’s typical ToryCorruption . Of course Sharp like all corrupt Tories will have to be sacked. Standing aside for the greater good is unknown to them. Not a decent one among the bad apples.
Slime
Why not?
Of course he won’t. Tbe refusal of those in powerful positions to resign is shocking but so many are untouchable. The corruption shown by Conservatives over the last 12 years has destroyed all morality and reduced the UK.
The UK needs him to spend more time with his family.
If he doesn’t quit, ‼️bang ‼️ goes the BBCPanorama BBCPolitics’ reputation & credibility … if the BBC still has any left …
Until Austin has that Oscar in his hand:
Oh yes he will
drip
No due to his guarantor
Course he won't, Tories don't, no shame whatsoever.
Interesting how mentions nothing about how Rosie Duffield is getting abuse from her own party, for standing up for women!
The look says it all! Flagrant Toraidhe Sleaze!
No experience in broadcasting, but they say he got the job on merit. Nothing to do with the £400,000 donation then ?
I live the fact that it’s not a conflict of interest because he said so. Sums up our leaders to a tee.
That virtually guarantees his exit.
There's obviously something dodgy - how else would a middle aged white conservative male get through the BBC recruitment process?
I bet BBC staff are relieved this has all come out. We thought the blackmail by the govt over the licence fee and funding was the main reason for them not being impartial but cronies on the board is belt and braces. Hopefully a revolt now this is under the spot light...
Wouldn’t know the meaning of integrity if it slapped him in the face! Standards in public office have sunk so low, these people walk tall under the bellies of snakes!
Don’t worry! That’s always the step before‘I’m stepping down to rigorously concentrate on clearing my name / proving my innocence’ *delete as appropriate. It will come. 🤣🤣
Oh go on, just one of you show some morals.
Why would he quit he might as well hold out until he gets pushed then he can get a big bonus at the taxpayers expense
If you believe the pile of rubbish being fed to the public I have a Palace at the end of The Mall you may be interested in 😇
He should quit over the shambolic Marxist offering his corp has become!
Only got the job role because he is Jewish
The Tories say we all need to take personal responsibility and stop looking to the state and yet they take zero responsibility themselves. He has been found out so has Zahawi, they are so entitled they think they are above basic standards of accountability.

If he won’t resign sack him
So the BBC head got his job by bribing a Tory leader and thats fine with the BBC news dept -
Was he breathing down you neck while you clicked the tweet button?
But for obvious reasons, he should resign for documentory against India.
We cannot be Judge and Jury until the full story is heard and its that simple. While others want him to go now its not right the way the Press and others are Judge and Jury.
Of course not its the new tory way when found to be bent..shout 'so what?' And carry on.
We know the chairman is not supposed to be as apolitical as say the DG, but this goes a bit beyond. Unfortunately the DG isn't so clean either these days.
The BBC or affectionately known as the Beeb is as “bent as a nine bob note” those working for it are enjoying the benefits of a billion pound pyramid Ponzi scheme scam using the £3.8 billion pound annual income of the tv licence fee as a front to pay themselves huge salaries
The nation should Withhold TV license fees
And is it right the only who can sack him is one of previous underlings RishiSunak ?! Conservatives Corrupt Unrepentant Narcissistic Treacherous
He would wouldn't he
Shameless
Pr*ck!
Just another dodgy Tory.
DISGUSTING! The whole cabal , the stench, the self-entitlement And overall, the lack of honor .
Please stick to news and not to propaganda.
