There's nothing quite like having a walk along the water and nipping into a cosy cafe for a hearty meal. The perfect place to do just that has now opened up in Whiteabbey village, just across the road from the popular Loughshore Park on the banks of Belfast Lough.
Starting the day off with a small breakfast, I was starving by lunchtime, and I'm glad I was as the portion sizes in the cafe were very generous. The cafe had a nice buzz to it, with a few people sitting in at the same time as us, while plenty of others were popping in and out to grab a takeaway coffee and a traybake.
My boyfriend opted for the spice bowl, consisting of crispy chicken, sauteed onions and peppers, chilies, 631 house sauce, and seasoned fries. For drinks, we each ordered a flat white coffee. The spice bag was amazing, too - good enough to rival any Chinese takeaway. The chicken and chips were well-seasoned and crisp, while the 631 sauce paired well with it. Our flat white coffees were perfect as well, a nice balance between the strong coffee flavour and creaminess from the milk.
