In restricting disabled people’s free bus passes, councils are telling us we aren’t important

Recent announcements about restricting the use of free bus passes for disabled people at rush-hour send out a poor message

I would like them to have the same challenging experience of commuting as everyone else. I might have even said miserable. If you commute by public transport then you will know what I mean. The reason that a disabled bus card exists is because it is recognised that there are lots of additional costs, but by making it only valid in off-peak hours tells disabled people that we should not be out and getting in other people’s way.It suggests there’s no understanding that we have something to contribute to society. It suggests we are less important and that is not good enough because, while the powers that be might be not saying that publicly, that is how it feels.

In London you can get a bus, at certain times of day, every six minutes, but outside of London it could only be a couple of times a day. If you can’t get on the bus you are waiting for, then you might be looking at travelling two hours later. Yes, that service may be busy but the disabled person shouldn’t be the only one is who left on the side of the road.

This has just happened to my sister! She has been waiting weeks and I’ve had to help her with the paper work because she has special needs. Arriva haven’t even come back to me. Disgusting!

Woman with Down's syndrome 'loses independence' after free bus travel taken awayThe restrictions completely contradict the government's bid to get more disabled people into work, campaigners say. What a misleading headline this is. She hasn't been striped at all of any free travel. Basically they are bringing the time free travel is valid in line with the mandatory minimum time. Absolute nonsense is this, an extra 15 minutes and there's a petition? Utterly disgraceful she is trying her best to get on,only to have bloody council do gooders penalise the disabled. That council is a disgrace😡

Put it to the People march: a formidable sea of humanity and powerful strength of feelingThey came to London from across Britain and Europe, filled with enthusiasm for the new three Rs: revoke, remain, reform And still not 17.4m. This gives me hope for humanity. Reform - 60 odd years, still not a fully accountable democracy. Ask Professor Craig, a massive EU fan and even a federalist. Even he concedes it lacks democratic legitimacy. Or you can ask EU funded Prof Weiler who says democracy feels 'foreign' in the EU

Scientists find genetic mutation that makes woman feel no painDiscovery in 71-year-old Jo Cameron may aid development of new pain relief treatments Has genetic mutation created a cure for opioid use (and therefore most of the addiction)? That'd made a pretty strong case for 'God's got our backs' if this pans out to be the miracle it could be. A quick trip to the CRISPR doc and BAM! - no more pain, depression, or suffering. A happy gene called FAAH OUT. Yes, I had to double check that it wasn’t April 1st. Does it involve getting rid of men?
