Glasson Dock villagers could be under water by 2090 - but 'why worry about something you can't change?'

With climate change resulting in soaring temperatures, increased rainfall and the threat of wildfires the risk of coastal towns and villages succumbing to rising sea levels is becoming ever more apparent.

In Glasson Dock locals are used to being forced to contend with extreme weather. The flat landscape, and being just 10 metres above sea level, puts the village at risk of rising sea levels but some of the 600 residents who have lived their all their lives are not concerned. "It tends to happen in high tides in October but it's a lot better than it was. I can't say I've noticed a massive change in the years we've been here."

"The recent drought has actually lowered the water level significantly," Dave told LancsLive. "I've lived here for 20 years and can't say I've noticed a huge difference. They've also installed flood defences at the docks."
