According to a reputable insider, Capcom has five Resident Evil projects in the works, including Resident Evil 9, which will reportedly act as a closing chapter.

Capcom is apparently hard at work working on Resident Evil 9, along with four unannounced Resident Evil projects, one of which is expected to launch in 2026 or 2027. As shared on Reddit, reputable insider AastheticGamer — who has a good history of reliably leaking projects like Resident Evil Village and images of the new Silent Hill game — has said that Capcom is working on five Resident Evil games. Dusk Golem shared the news on Discord, saying that one of the games is Resident Evil 9.

Dusk Golem has previously shared that Resident Evil 9 has been in development since 2018 and has the longest development cycle and largest budget of any Resident Evil game. It's expected to release sometime in 2025 at the earliest, and while it's not a direct sequel to 2021's Resident Evil Village, Capcom planned both game's plotlines at the same time so the ninth entry can close the current story arc and kickstart the next.
