He's horrible him ..hope he gets a big dose of Covid for Easter

Wait are you accusing him, or is just “some people”?

Alternatively, Rees-Moggs' firm employs salesmen.

dianjo It is unbelievable what these Tories get away with - they have no shame

I don’t understand how you can vilify this? Every investment fund manager will be doing the same but you are trying to vilify a minority shareholder?

I'll say it again... No more Etonian alumni!

Shock horror. An investment firm advising its clients to take advantage of falling asset prices to make higher returns in future.. The man only retains a 15% stake in the company and is no longer involved in the day to day running of the firm; still gets blamed..

Shameful .

Obviously

Not surprised. Jobs for the boys time isn’t it Conservatives

Does the British Empire still draw and quarter criminals?

It's only the poor, you know, those who lack common sense, that will catch covid-19 so it's fine for his firm to make profit!

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Tory party

There is no finer conduit by which to register your contempt for your country and your fellow countrymen than this cynical, degenerate and totally unrecognisable version of the modern Tory Party. A foul church of seething gluttony.

Good to know. Remind everyone when this is over.

This is poor reporting. Somerset Capital is looking for new investors just like every buy-side firm right now. But investors beware, emerging markets securities across all asset classes have been whacked by this crisis and it might take a long time for the market to come back.

Blood on the street... buy.

Operation C U N T

He's got a lovely smile!

The only thing worse than thieves and scammers at the moment...

Thanks let’s bring these high crimes and misdemeanors into the LIGHT 💡!!!!

Just need to read the very dim replies on this thread to know the guardian has its very thick readers in the palm of its grubby desperate sweaty palm. Read the article idiots, nothing to see here but alt-left desperation 🤷‍♂️

Always a profit to be made!

Can I claim my Ltd Company day rates and relief at the same time because the oil price is low.

At least he is consistent in his exploitation, you get what you voted for !

Anybody surprised

His firm of advisors have advised on how best to invest in this crisis 🤷‍♂️ he isn’t personally advising! Wow, guardian on a new low of shock jock toilet paper

I'm stunned!

Same old toffs

I simply cannot believe that a member of the Conservative party, and an aristocrat none-the-less, would care more about making money than the welfare of the citizens of this country. Shocker.

It's in the tories dna to make money out of others misfortune and hardship. Victorian values still persist more than ever post Brexit. ....

The NHS has been raped by private companies for years and no one cared. I now hope people wake up and realise what we have and let's try to save it 😘👍

How come your more concerned with Reece Mogg. What about China cashing in on this?

The board members and management of Somerset Capital Management (SCM). As soulless as ghoul Jacob Rees-Mogg.

From your own article: 'Rees-Mogg co-founded SCM and continues to hold a 15% stake in the business. He stepped back from day-to-day work at the firm when he became an MP in 2010 and quit his role as part-time adviser when he became a minister in 2019.'

So are you and the companies advertising on your app

Law for companies making over 20% above average 3 years profits esp. when trading in the crisis needed. Any who dont have blood on their hands. Compassion over Capitalism!

Why is this not surprising

You mean the firm he has some vested interest in is suggesting ‘other people’ can use the financial downturn to make investments Never let the truth get in the way of slagging off an MP eh? 🤦🏼‍♂️

He's a spiv and a profiteer and he should resign from the cabinet

Buying stocks at a low price. What is so bad about that?

Conservatives doing what conservatives do.

They cashed in on brexit, so of course they will cash in on this. They are disaster capitalists. I bet they have a huge boner right now.

Do you think that pension funds (both public and private), sovereign wealth funds, are not planning the same? Any financial institution or investment firms is reviewing the markets and planning investments.

Is he the honorable gentleman who was reclining on the fancy green bench while debating?

Quelle surprise. With a name like Rees-Mogg?

Yes. They'll be out robbing the corpses.

haveigotnews

Didn’t he make enough from cashing in on the effects of Brexit

Not to mention our food retailers... bumper sales, eh?

Yay! More PlagueProfiteers! GUILLOTINE2020

Hardly 'his' firm though is it? Bloody sensationalist Guardian nonsense.

Am I surprised?

Tory being a Tory not really news.

Financial vulture - same as insider trading, surely, so has to go.

Ehhh i'm not so sure it's that sinister, there's plenty to go after him for, a company that he isn't particularly involved in telling investors the bleeding obvious that stocks and shares are cheap right now.

rorybremner jonculshaw hubabakanda lewismacleod

They are not

Not surprising. Fckin smug bastard. He pushed for brexit and all controversial Tory party policies to grow his wealth. It was very evident overall

Loathsome.🐴

Sad, these are who the UK voted for.

No I am quite frankly shocked, stunned and amazed. He’s normally such a moral, altruistic man, known for his generosity to the poor.

he should be fired now

Is anyone surprised. He plans the same with BREXIT. greedy selfserving

Who world knows ita good time to invest...what is wrong with people, this aint news worthy..he is not stealing

This is a cheap political article. His investment fund has an opportunity to buy after the sell off. As do all your pension funds! The guardian is full of idiots.

Plumber caught boss's wife cheating

Of course he did. Monster. Mobster.

Cashing in on disaster is what his entire class is about.

In a reasonable world he would be tried as a traitor

The most disgusting pig in Britain

Deal with him RishiSunak BorisJohnson Keir_Starmer

WHY IS THIS NOT A SURPRISE IN THE SLIGHTEST?

Shocked 🦄🌈🌏

Sweden is risking a lot as its coronavirus experiment comes under strainWhy is Sweden, my birth country, responding differently than others to the coronavirus crisis? When this is over Sweden could have an economy and might buy up all failed businesses in Europe, they should be banned from that, *** assholes, they will not benefit from what they are doing, same goes for China. ban investment and trade with them. Anyone know if flights come in and from Sweden, if so BAN THEM, infact Ban Swedish, kick out Swedish in UK, c*nts. We were carrying out the same policy; however, the media pressure and hysteria was so overwhelming from the celebrity armchair virologists that the government altered course, but guess what, time was show we were right and so is Sweden.
