A red-faced Gary Lineker has poked fun at the X-rated Match of the Day blunder which saw sex noises being played whilst he was presenting live on the programme.
Gary was attempting to bring in his co-star and former footballer Alan Shearer into the conversation for analysis before the game kicked off when the noises started. Reflecting on the moment as he appeared on Newsnight, the star told presenter Kirsty Wark: "If you told me this morning that tonight I’d be on Newsnight talking about a porn scandal I would have been terrified.
The BBC issued an apology after the incident, saying in a statement: “We apologise to any viewers offended during the live coverage of the football this evening. We are investigating how this happened."
