Red Bull was originally planning to start the HungarianGP on the hard tyres, but threw its strategy 'out of the window' shortly before the start. Full story: F1

one place further back, Red Bull's simulations had shown that the best route to deliver a good result was to have a long first stint on the hard.

That proved to be a hugely significant move, as struggles that a number of rivals – including Ferrari's Red Bull team boss Christian Horner reckoned, knowing how hard things had been for the drivers on the laps out to the grid, that it would have been 'ludicrous' to have gone ahead with its original plan.
