The information watchdog says rape victims are being re-victimised by a system they expect to support them
"Victims are being treated as suspects," Mr Edwards says. "And people feel re-victimised by a system they expect to support them. Change is required to rebuild trust that will enable more victims to seek the justice to which they're entitled." This is voluntary, but victims are often told the case will be closed if they do not comply, and some withdraw because they are uncomfortable handing over private data.
"We will also shortly be launching a public consultation on police requests for personal information, such as medical or education records, to understand more about the problems in this area and to test possible solutions."
Potential rape victims. The information required determines whether they are or not. What a society we would be if we just took someones word for something. The accusation can do as much damage as the crime
This is purely because some women will falsely accuse men. Sadly investigations now need to be made, due to the actions of a few. There is no amount of men that should be falsely imprisoned so that less intrusive investigations should take place.
What recommendations has the ICO offered to support the falsely accused - these recommendations reflect the ICO are again failing to support a fair society while suggesting a misandry approach
Alleged.
.reading this I thought I was reading TheOnion
jimmy saville channel
More corruption - just how police try to 'intelligently' collect information on people and store it so they can study aka troll them What's the betting it's all ethnic minorities being targeted in their 'helpful' mode
What does Data Watchdog know about crime investigation?
They were asked what ethnicity the rapists were. If they answered anything but 'White'... then too much information
Should Rape Victim be gaged, silenced & no info to be given because they ask too much info......? There is some logic . is there.....?
Probably should rephrase that as 'Rape victims are asked for too much information' to make it clearer.
Wtf is this… bbc is not news anymore
Wouldn't trust the police to investigate any rape cases, I remember there's was a massive scandal not so long ago where the Met police had actual withheld information in court that would have proven the innocence of the accused. Its a mess for victims and those accused.
The police are throwing out rape cases. I know someone who was sexually abused and raped by a healthcare assistant whilst she was a patient at Addenbrookes hospital, and after a year of doing very little in the way of investigation, the police have decided not to proceed.
