Baffled Celtic hero Mark Wilson couldn't resist a chuckle as he brought up the billing of Rangers pre-season clash with Manchester United as 'Battle of the Cup Finalists'.
Philippe Clement will look to improve on last season - after the Light Blues collapsed in the Premiership title race and fell to Scottish Cup defeat to Celtic - and the clash with the English Premier League giants at Murrayfield could offer the perfect preparation for the new campaign. It's the first time the two teams will have faced since a Champions League tie in 2010 which United won 1-0 through a Wayne Rooney goal.
But Wilson appeared unfazed by the actual game as he turned his attention to the marketing team. Social media advertisements have dubbed the game as the Battle of the Cup finalists. While Erik ten Hag's side went on to see off Manchester City at Wembley, Rangers failed to add to their League Cup and claim a double in the Scottish equivalent at Hampden.
The fixture was flagged on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard 'Beat the Pundit' quiz - and Wilson couldn't resist bringing up the label of the fixture. He asked: "Did I see it labelled as Battle of the Cup finalists?” Host Andrew McLean responded: ‘Yes, I did see that somewhere.” Wilson couldn’t help but burst out laughing. He added: ‘That is a weird tag that, eh? Battle of the Cup finalists?”
