Former Aberdeen chief Keith Wyness has claimed it is inevitable an English or top European club will poach Rangers boss Philippe Clement if he continues to perform well at Ibrox., the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Aberdeen between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested the Belgian could remain in Glasgow for the next “two or three seasons”.
Clement was appointed in October 2023, succeeding Michael Beale in the hot seat and signing a four-year deal with the club. He took the reins with Rangers trailing Celtic by seven points in the Scottish Premiership title race – and the Gers now lead their Old Firm rivals by two points. The former Monaco boss secured qualification for the Europa League knockout stages but the Scottish giants were eliminated by Benfica at the Round of 16 stage on Thursday .“It’s always the problem, isn’t it – if you do well in Scotland then a Premier League or top European club will come and look at you.
