The Ibrox club are currently competing in the Europa League with a new tournament looming.

Rangers were NEVER in line for Club World Cup 2025 qualification – but an improbable gauntlet can still provide them access amid no drastic rule change.

It was claimed Rangers would be guaranteed entry was that the 8 UEFA places up for grabs would be capped at one team per country. However, FIFA stated on its website that the cap is and has always been, TWO teams per country. Strong rumours reported by Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy state the belief that FIFA will use their own bespoke scoring system. Crucially it will be Champions League points ONLY, over the last 4 years, with 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 5 points for participation.

If any of those 11 clubs were to win this season’s Champions League – they would free up an extra slot for the next eligible club The next 4 eligible teams would be Feyenoord, Ajax, Rangers and Club Brugge, Where this fantasy would get interesting is Rangers would need Feyenoord to be eliminated from Europe ASAP. Feyenoord are in 3rd place, 5 points ahead of Celtic. It’s a mammoth task, but if Celtic win their last two games including beating Feyenoord, they will finish third ahead of the Dutch giants, assuming Feyenoord also lose to Atlético Madrid.
