Rangers land Europa League relief as Dinamo Zagreb collapse sparks pot shake up

Rangers fans may not have been relishing the Europa League after missing out on the Champions League - but Michael Beale has still received a major boost going into the draw.

The Scottish Premiership side have been propelled into Pot 1 after Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb collapsed after holding a comfortable 3-1 lead heading into the second leg against Sparta Prague. However, the Czechs stunned them with a 4-1 win in the Czech Republic to go through 5-4 on aggregate. With less than 24 hours until Friday's draw Dinamo were occupying the last spot in pot one but Rangers have now leapfrogged into the heavyweight category - meaning they will swerve some big guns in the group stage. They join Liverpool, West Ham, Roma, Ajax and Villarreal as top seeds.

But there will still be some tough opponents for the Light Blues. Sporting Lisbon, Real Betis, Marseille and Brighton are all possible opponents for the 2022 finalists after their Champions League exit at the hands of PSV Eindhoven.
