Countdown presenter Rachel Riley has won £50,000 in libel damages from a blogger who called her a 'serial abuser' who bullied a teenager, over an anti-semitism dispute

A judge previously found that Mr Sivier's article would be read as claiming Ms Riley "engaged upon, supported and encouraged a campaign of online abuse and harassment of a 16-year-old girl".He defended himself by arguing he had a "reasonable belief" that it was in the public interest to publish the claims in the article.

Mrs Justice Steyn said the blogger did not include any references to Ms Riley's denial of the allegation that she had bullied or encouraged the bullying of the 16-year-old and did not give the television presenter a chance to comment. "Ms Riley expressed the point that she found it hurtful to be accused of lying and encouraging a smear campaign in restrained and mild terms."

So soft today.

Antisemitism is one word, do not put a hyphen in there. I of course don't expect LBC to stop peddling this Nazi propaganda, but it must be said under the circumstances.

What a truly unpleasant Woman

Boffin

Good on Rachel and much deserved.

When you make accusations against someone with no proof. Congratulations.

So being rich really does mean you can do and say whatever you want.

This case has nothing to do with antisemitism. The least you can do is to report the basic facts of the case. You couldn't even do that.

The fact this woman keeps winning libel lawsuits shows the system is either damaged or completely broken.

Mazel tov to RachelRileyRR ! The UK has an incredible system. This would never occur in the US, which is why our culture is so much less polite and we have a much more difficult time fighting antisemitism.

Another Corbynite bully gets his comeuppance in court. Fantastic news!

She must be pleased with herself.

Tax Amazon and non-doms more instead of targeting lower earners, says Keir StarmerIn an exclusive interview with i, the Labour leader and shadow Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, said ordinary working people should not have to pay higher taxes to 'mop up the mess' of the Tory Government 👉 Sir Keir and Ms Reeves also said that Labour would prioritise energy efficiency – such as a programme to insulate 19 million homes – over increasing support for household energy bills in April. wesstreeting But they are fine with ordinary working people paying higher taxes to 'mop up the mess' of this hard Brexit by refusing to join the Single Market, a Customs Union, and get FoM back, as 'there is no case for any of those'. Isn't that right, Wes? wesstreeting Finally, something from Labour I can get behind.
