Public Health England calls for action on obesity in Covid-19 fight

The case for action on obesity has “never been stronger”, according to Public Health England , who today publish a review of evidence which shows that being overweight remains one of the biggest risk factors in the battle against Covid-19.

The govt food pyramid is wrong! Remove food from the bottom level, bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, all refined sugar, processed foods & switch to single ingredients. Eggs, meat, fish, veg, cream, cheese, salad & healthy fats, olive oil, coconut oil, butter. I lost 7 stone doing it.

This is problematic to me, particularly the language used “war on obesity” and how this continues to play into the tropes that all fat people are unhealthy. Also tying it to COVID is shaming the fat community. I don’t see this language used against smokers?

Misses half the picture - take off ads for junk food but put on ads for fruit. Take sweets from checkouts but put apples there instead. Make fruit & veg grown in UK available from street carts.

So will Johnson be also going on this national weight-loss programme too?

I also gave up smoking eighteen mouths ago which made me exercise like walking about twenty thousand steps a day that's about 5 km per day. Regarding the food look for the green labels on food

It even by scanning bar codes when you shop till you how many calories in it my in take was 1588 calories per day believe me it does not look a lot but it gives you three good square meals a day. I have up sugar white bread chocolate crisp a lost 2 stone 8 pounds in eight weeks

I was told I at to loose weight because of a health problem I look up my BMI NHS my BMI was 27 well to high so I went on a diet to get down to 23 and through the my fittness pal which is a app that till what caleries you should eat on a daily basis

Lockdown fast food outlets it will help the environment too. I'm sick of seeing and picking up mcdonalds and kfc litter on my regular walk with the dog, also after a Friday or Saturday night the road between me and the said outlets is littered with discarded packing.

Within metres of my Practice is KFC, Macdonalds, Subway, Taco Bell. Other shops are boarded up. Most people are either obese or extremely thin. Litter everywhere. It wasn't like this 10 yrs ago. We need a new voting system. We need to rejoin the EU. We need a new Government.

I highly recommend 16/8 fasting.

The sheep shouldn’t have been encouraged to stay at home and bake, should they? All those carbs and sugar. They should have rebelled and demanded their liberty back.
