The Loxley Pub in Nottingham city centre lost its front sign, which fell onto the street. Crowds gathered after the incident, with suggestions that strong winds may have caused the sign to fall.

A loud "crash" was heard as a Nottingham city centre pub's front sign plunged onto the floor. The Loxley Pub on Pelham Street, lost its signage this afternoon (Wednesday, March 13), with passersby noticing the large sign, which reads The Loxley, had fallen on the street. The sign, which is the width of the pub, was positioned on the building's exterior above the windows and door. Crowds began to gather after the incident, with many unnerved over it suddenly dropping to the floor.

It is not clear what caused the sign to fall from the pub, although there have been some suggestions it could be due to the recent strong winds. Forest Fields resident, Edward Jean-Jacques, said: "I literally came out the gym and heard a crash but didn't think nothing of it being the middle of town. The 52-year-old added: "I spoke to a few Thurland regulars who also heard it from inside the pub including the landlady
