Residents set up a table with cakes and drinks for a peaceful protest - but in a surprising development Openreach did not show up

Neighbours turned out in force and even laid on a buffet as they stepped up their fight against plans for telegraph poles in their town.

He has now written to the chief constable of Merseyside Police, Serena Kennedy. Merseyside Police did respond to councillor Myers regarding the use of the Trades Union Act, and clarified police interventions were actually based on legislation issued under the Highways Act obstruction rules. Earlier this month, Sefton Council called on Openreach to suspend their plans to install telegraph poles across Southport after being inundated with complaints from local residents. Plans for installing Openreach's telegraph poles have proceeded without the need for approval from Sefton Council's planning team.
