All forms of slavery are abhorrent. Between 1 million and 1.25 million Europeans were thought to have been captured by Barbary pirates and sold as slaves in North Africa and Ottoman Empire between the 16th and 19th centuries. An inconvenient truth?
Instead of taking statues down, why don't we learn from them? You can't change the past, but you can change the future...proper education on these figures can be beneficial.

Keeping statues of Rhodes, Colston etc is important because they tell a story - the good & bad things our ancestors did. We shouldn’t live in the past but we need to learn from the past & statues have a part in telling that story so we don’t make the same mistakes again.
