Prolific shoplifter banned from town's suspermarkets

A prolific shoplifter has been banned from a town's supermarkets. Jack Collins faces prison if he enters the stores or is caught swigging from a can of booze in public.

Collins of no fixed abode, Macclesfield was served with the two-year order at Crewe Magistrates’ Court on following numerous incidents of shoplifting across the town. As a result of the order, the 38-year-old has been banned from entering the following stores:In addition, Collins is also banned from being in possession of any open containers of alcohol in public. If he fails to comply with the CBO, he will be committing a criminal offence which may result in recall to prison or fine.

Sergeant Matthew Bassirat, of Macclesfield Local Policing Unit, said: "Collins is a prolific shoplifter that has frequently stolen from shops across the town for a long time; hopefully the securing of this two-year criminal behaviour order will deter such actions in the future. I also hope that the order will provide reassurance to local businesses, demonstrating that we are committed to doing all we can to tackle shoplifting across Macclesfield.
