Head into the pretty village of Christleton in Cheshire and it has all the hallmarks of quintessential rural life. Ducks and swans swim across still waters of the village pond, while parents with kids happily toddle past to enjoy a huge free play area.
The Sunday Times describe Christleton as a 'best-of-both-worlds village'. It boasts a "premium postcode with two outstanding state schools, three roaringly good pubs, and upmarket homes in a delightfully rural setting".The village has long been in demand as a place to settle in Cheshire - not just for its idyllic location, but because it has lots of great amenities for families too.
As for the other 'roaringly good pubs' that the Sunday Times highlights, over on Plough Lane you'll find the Plough Inn, which serves food daily and also offers a large outdoor terrace for dining and drinking. There's a traditional village green where you'll find an historic water pump, across from the 15th century St James Church. Stroll away from the church and there's the picturesque duck pond, known locally as The Pit.
Developers have recently transformed the old Christleton Hall estate in the village, with a range of apartments inside the old mansion house, while new builds around it have also recently hit the market as part of the College Park development.
