amylase__ Long overdue!

They talk as if they are owed this money, by their employers, as a right. Yet small businesses simply cannot support someone who decides to take months out for to have a baby. It is totally unfair.

In Saudi Arabia, pregnant women get a full paid vacation when they give a birth of child. Just saying!

'You see this? I am going to be squirting these out for the next 2-3 years and you boys are gonna work your fingers to the bone and pay for my it, Then when I come back, I am gone claim sexism and get that promotion over you despite not working' Feminist equality at work.

And why no protection for pregnant men? Misandry at its worst!

so everyone else has to make up for your life choices that sounds equal

I know at least 2 women in my local town who said they where going to quit there job after birth 13 weeks of free money for them

bbclaurak Are pregnant women under threat?

bbclaurak Honest translation: “More false promises from the Tories”

bbclaurak

Too little, too late. Women in my dept in the BBC were made to feel guilty for being pregnant and very few returned after maternity leave. My life was made a living hell and being told it was highly probable i wouldn’t have my old job on my return was the last straw.

bbclaurak Holy Cow! Literally.

bbclaurak No point having more job protection when employers already ignore the current laws designed to protect women returning to work. We need to ban NDAs so everyone knows what these companies get up to.

Should also include those on mat leave. My wife was let go two months prior to returning to work. Very annoying and stressful

Nice bit of womansplaining in the pic BBC. Is that a pic of the Gillette marketing department?....did pregnancy hormones play a part in their genderwar disaster? And if that what should we be doing to prevent it in future?

But it's OK to make her colleague who's spent the last year doing two people's jobs redundant?

This is a life choice and the financial burden should be on the expectant parents.

If it was up to me I would pay maternity pay for up to 3 years full pay . Cos going work and bringing up a baby is not easy 😉

But okay for them to continue to string the employer along when they have no intention of returning after maternity leave?

As they should. If you have never been there..then zip it!

bbclaurak I had a pregnant employee who told several customers to ‘fuck off’ i sacked her. She got 10k at the tribunal. Think they have ample protection already.

Lovely stuff. Now when are men going to get more than 2 weeks paternity? Or full pay for those 2 weeks? I had to take mine as annual leave as I couldn't afford to lose 2 weeks pay.

bbclaurak Go home.

Saddened but not surprised by most of these replies everydaysexism

bbclaurak Until the cost to the employer of maternity leave is not wholly carried by society instead of the employer, this will affect their chances in the job market

Or do they stick out more in a crowd?

You know what they say... When the going gets tough, the tough identify as a pregnant women to avoid reduncancy regardless of merit.

bbclaurak Great more stuff for the femoids.

bbclaurak Most pregnant women in work, just get pregnant as soon as they are out of probation, take a year off, return for a week then quit.

Fair enough

When somebody will propose a law to protect women from working at all instead protecting the job of the pregnant ones? The pregnant women assume a mission and a permanent job for at least 18 years. Why not offering support from day one instead from the 200th day?

I'm hoping that pregnant men are getting job protection too. If not then that's really toxic and transphobic to exclude them.

Sorry. I thought it was 2019. Silly me

Things move on. I recall in the 50's & 60's pregnancy mandated a smock, big coat & virtually no mention of the condition. We have moved to where the above picture is no longer shocking, so things can and should progress.

I don’t get it. If you’re not at work and are not making money for the company why should you be paid? Might be ok for big companies but small ones would fold. Can’t sit on your arse in the house and expect someone to give you cash.

The more important question - why would a woman want to work for an employer who would otherwise be willing to discriminate against them? A business like this would only think of 'some other excuse' to fire them.

Thank you - I would have missed this.

Disappointed by the lack of condom jokes in the comments, you should all be ashamed.

A step in the right direction! 🙂

Why?

Come on so sexiest what about MEN who are pregnant 😜😂😂

Pregnancy is not an illness. (shuts lid on bomb shelter, waiting for the avalanche of hate). :)
