A pregnant woman in Northern Ireland was shocked to discover that her severe morning sickness symptoms were actually due to cancer. After losing weight and experiencing other concerning symptoms, she was diagnosed with stage one Hodgkin lymphoma. Despite the diagnosis, she is expected to fully recover.

A pregnant woman was shocked to discover her severe morning sickness was actually cancer. Caitlin McAlinden, 24, initially attributed her symptoms, which included a golf ball-sized lump on her neck, nausea, and fatigue, to being pregnant.

The pregnancy news came to Caitlin on September 16, 2023, following a bout of nausea at her birthday dinner the previous week. "That's when I found a lump, about the size of a pea." Caitlin didn't want to see a GP at first - believing the lump was just another "weird" sign of pregnancy. Her partner, Connor, 27, who works as a procurement manager, insisted that Caitlin needed to see a doctor immediately. She visited her GP on January 2 and was referred for an initial ultrasound on her neck.
