British families heading to France for their Easter holidays were today warned by Port of Dover officials that extra border security checks could delay their journeys.
Separately, Britons have been warned to expect Easter travel 'carmageddon' over the long weekend with 14million getaway trips set to cause gridlock on the roads. Sources at the Port told MailOnline that the extra checks were so far having a 'minimal impact', with queues expected to be in line with normal levels experienced during peak periods over the past year such as Christmas.
Today, France joined the US in saying intelligence indicated Islamic State was responsible for the attack, while Russia continued to suggest that Ukraine was to blame. Advertisement Mr Putin said 11 people had been detained, including the four suspected gunmen, who he said had fled the concert hall and made their way to the Bryansk region, 210 miles south-west of Moscow, to slip across the border to Ukraine.
The attack came amid an apparent escalation of aerial bombardment of cities by the Kremlin's forces as the war stretches into its third year with the front line largely stationary.
