The landlord of a popular pub in Arnold has spoken of a vision for a new outdoor terrace which he says could prove a 'massive boost' in the summer. David Pears, landlord of the Robin Hood and Little John, said he hoped an expanded outdoor seating area would lead to more customers coming in during the warmer months.
"We have a wonderful little courtyard but doesn’t get the sun for long, so we miss out on the sun lovers in summer. The plan is to build on top of the skittle alley and provide a wonderful sun trap terrace area."There will be padding seating on the wall side and then tables, chairs all over the area on top. I personally cannot wait for this. It will be a massive boost for the pub and hopefully bring people to the pub in summer that wouldn’t normally come.
The plans include a new metal staircase to access the terraced area. The area would be lit up with festoon lighting on metal poles along with decorative high black balustrading. A spokesperson from Everards Brewrey said: “We have currently have a planning application in for the Robin Hood & Little John pub. The application is to relocate the current outside toilet area in order to create more useable space and to generally improve the outside space."
