A Sherwood mum with terminal cancer claims she has been in 'a constant battle' with Nottingham City Homes over the condition of her property while fighting her illness. Since 2013, Emma Johnson has lived in the NCH property with her husband and their six children, where she says they have faced a number of issues.
In October 2022 Emma was given just three months to live, as she was diagnosed with translocational renal cell clear carcinoma in 2016, a cancer that grows in the kidney. She said she complained to NCH that same month over dampness in the property. "They did ask if I wanted to move out but it meant moving my kids and moving all the house into a random estate."
Regarding the condition of the home when she moved in, Emma claimed that she "fought" to have the wet room installed by Nottingham City Homes. Emma stated: "I fought for three years for them to move it upstairs and then they put me a wet room in, but the way they were going to leave my wet room could not be signed off because of the way they left it, it was disgusting, and I was recovering from an operation.
