Poor kids 'may just not go to school' if under-18 free transport is scrapped

The move, which officials believe will help avoid overcrowding on transport, is due to come into effect before September when schools reopen. But concerns have been raised that some of the most disadvantaged children in the capital may not be able to return to class if they cannot afford to get there.the rule change is ‘upsetting’ and has added unnecessary stress to London families, particularly at a time when many are already financially struggling due to the pandemic.

Schools should be within walking distance. Why are children travelling so far, I see them on my local bus passing many schools before they reach theirs?

Bet they do...

They can walk to school. The buses should be used by people who has to go to work and are not fit enough to walk I’ve seen many children just using the bus for a few stops and they are obese This would be a good way to avoid crowded buses and stop obesity
