Former business secretary Grant Shapps has said he is"delighted" to be appointed Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.
He was a Sunak-backer in the summer Conservative leadership contest and was a vocal critic of the PM's predecessor Liz Truss.Other cabinet jobs he has fulfilled include chairman of the Conservative Party.During his DCMS committee appearance, Richard Sharp continues to deny he has"facilitated" the loan given to Boris Johnson by Sam Blyth.
Labour MP Kevin Brennan asked Mr Sharp to"clear the air" and if there was"anything else that might be perceived as a conflict" that he hadn't revealed. "I was not party to any subsequent events that took place, I gave no financial advice to the prime minister [and] I gave no financial advice to Mr Blyth."
The Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport loses digital from its brief and becomes the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. Sam adds:"It sounds like an easy press release, but actually behind the scenes it's now going to mean months and months of work, of officials moving buildings, different people being put into different teams - actually that can slow down the immediate delivery of some priorities, but this is government as Rishi Sunak wants it to be run."He has been an MP since 2005, first in Hammersmith and Fulham, then Chelsea and Fulham since its creation in 2010.
