'Our policy is completely legal and completely moral'. Foreign Secretary trussliz says 'critics' of the government's Rwanda deportation plan need to 'suggest an alternative policy that will work'. KayBurley: 📺 Sky 501, Virgin 602, Freeview 233

Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has just been speaking to Niall Paterson on Sky News Breakfast.

Asked about the criticisms from church leaders - who have called the policy"immoral" - the foreign secretary said: As well as re-starting infringement proceedings against the UK, he said the EU would also look at launching further legal action to protect the integrity of the EU single market, as he ruled out renegotiating the trade protocol. The government has appointed a new cost of living business tsar to help support people with rising bills.

After two legal challenges failed, a plane is scheduled to leave for the Rwandan capital of Kigali later, but it is unclear how many asylum seekers will be onboard. Many allege that they are being"played" – that the protocol is being used by Boris Johnson to distract his critics and mollify his core supporters. Legal proceedings now seem inevitable. Relations between Westminster and Brussels, which were already appalling, have just got even worse. Stephen Murphy, Ireland correspondent

You don't have to get far into the 20-page Northern Ireland Protocol Bill to see why this legislation is causing so much of a stink with so many people.

About time EU wake up and pull there heads in the sand... change the N Ireland protocol

It is but remember most of the top members of this government have made it clear they use this country only while it suits them, is that right Johnson senior.

Wouldn’t it be easier & cheaper if Europe worked together & stopped the boats in the Med instead of letting them get here & then trying to deal with it 🤷‍♂️

All we had to do was stop rubber dinghy's crossing a 22 mile stretch of water with the royal navy running the operation and yet here we are with all these plans that make us a laughing stock , Liz should be trussed up and put on the flight 🤔🤨

First migrant flight to Rwanda set for take off on TuesdayThe Rwandan deportation scheme backed by Priti Patel and a host of other senior Conservative ministers is set to begin next week. Shameful. The fifth richest country in the world is unwilling to house the world's most needy. The sooner this government is out the better. Good maybe the housing market will start to reduce in price as a result of it. How awful.
